A big thank you for all your patience whilst we digest the most recent advice regarding the work we are able to undertake during this lockdown.

We understand that this is a difficult and unsettling time for all and we would like to reassure you that we are here to care for your pet’s 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

We have formed our plans based on government advice, the British Veterinary Association guidance and that of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. 

The clear message from all is to stay at home whenever possible.  Slowing the spread of Covid-19 remains the top priority for everyone.  Public health, including the safety of our team members and our clients remains paramount

Our MPV practice family has been split into 3 main socially distanced teams since March, with our vets and nurses continuing to provide 24-hour care 7 days a week.

We will continue to work within these teams for the foreseeable future – even though we all wish that we could be back together again, we know that this is not in the best interests of our clients, patients and colleagues.

Both of our practices will stay open for the foreseeable future – with all urgent and emergency cases being seen 24 hours a day at our practice on Moss Industrial Estate –  should this change we will update you.

We will follow the BVA’s advice and see emergency cases and those in which the pet’s welfare will be compromised without veterinary attention.  Our team are on hand 24/7 to advise you regarding this and will answer any questions you have.

We will continue to vaccinate young puppies and kittens.

We will complete any vaccination courses already started.

We will continue to vaccinate rabbits.

We will continue to provide annual booster vaccinations to our patients however you may be asked to increase the interval between booster vaccinations to 15 months rather than 12 months. 

We will be postponing rabies vaccines until lockdown is lifted.

We will provide Herpes vaccines to those patients who require it.

We will postpone health checks on healthy pets until lockdown is lifted.

We will postpone all pre-mating checks until lockdown is lifted.

We will postpone bulldog health checks and BVA hip/elbow scores until lockdown is lifted.

We will postpone nail clips and empty anal glands until lockdown is lifted unless failing to provide the service will cause a welfare issue to our patient.

We will postpone all travel documentation completion until lockdown in lifted.

Neutering will take place on a case-by-case basis where clear need is identified.

We will triage all of our patients by telephone – as we have been doing since March and will reintroduce telephone and video consultations for those patients we are able to help with the remote prescribing of medications.

We will see any patients that need seeing at one of our practices.

Our phones will be answered 24/7.

We learnt how to effectively manage cases remotely during the previous lock downs and we will utilise that skill set once again with a full team on the end of the phone.

  • We ask that you inform our team if you are self-isolating for any reason, or if you have any symptoms of C-19 which include a new and persistent cough, high temperature, loss of taste or smell.
  • We ask that you telephone us for advice or an appointment and do not arrive at the practice (unless in the case of an extreme emergency) without us knowing to expect you.
  • We ask that you respect social distancing guidelines at all times whilst our team assist you.
  • We ask that you give us at least 24 hours’ notice for repeat prescription requests.
  • We ask that you wear a face covering at all times if you are within one of our buildings.
  • We ask that you respect our team at all times and understand that they are doing their very best in difficult circumstances, working hard to balance animal health and welfare, public health, your safety and the safety of their teams.
  • We ask that you respect our vets’ clinical and professional judgements when risk assessing your pets need for treatment and vaccination, these assessments will vary across the country due to local disease risks. They will also vary between clients due to individual circumstances.
  • We ask for your patience whilst we navigate our way through this lockdown.
